Does Canada still need the royals?

The Canadian government is probably happy to see the backs of the royals given their reception in Quebec. What a waste of time and money on protocol and protection. The UK High Commission's messaging that Charles is the next monarch (but William is so hot ;-) !) was both puerile and counterproductive to getting any serious interest in this visit.
